I saw Florence and the Machine at the weekend and was blown away by how good a performer Florence is. Not only is she a brilliant live performer, but she also happens to be ginger. Ok, I know her hair colour may not be natural. However, it is a beautiful colour and if she chooses to die her hair that colour then fair enough! Anyway, so seeing Florence and then going home and watching Dumb and Dumber made me want to start ranting about how brilliant ginger hair is. Why did Dumb and Dumber make me feel like this? Well below is Mary Swanson from Dumb and Dumber. Lauren Holly is the actress who plays the character and Lauren, is to my knowledge, also not a natural redhead, put pulls the colour off with class as if it was her natural colour.

However, after browsing the internet whilst my boyfriend played on his PS3, I stumbled across this article. The article really infuriated me for many reasons:
1. Cheryl Cole's hair is not red or ginger. She died it that tacky shade of plum for a photoshoot and the dyed her hair back to her normal colour.
2. Nicola Roberts who is in the same girl band as Cheryl has naturally ginger hair, yet the article only mentions her when criticising her fashion choices.
3. Florence Welch's hair colour isn't natural.
4. The article implies that when ginger hair is no longer in fashion ginger haired people should go back to being ridiculed.

5. A number of the celebrities mentioned are not natural redheads, but are being championed for dying their hair ginger.
6. As we are all born with a natural hair colour should we only celebrate it when it is in fashion? And who decided that ginger hair is in fashion?
